Today on skincare 101 I will be letting you all know of some face oils worth checking out. I have dry skin so an oil is used just about daily, especially in the colder months. However, oils are great for those with oily skin as well. Applying oil to oily skin tricks your skin by making it fell as though it doesn't need to produce more oil.
Oils are great for your skin because many of them such as argan and marula are filled with antioxidants that will fight free radicals. Oils like argan oil and borage-seed oils can help your skin build a tolerance and can decrease inflammation. Oils are great for mature skin, because they are great for plumping your skin, coconut and olive oil are great for this. Just like oil tricks your skin from producing its own oil, oils also trick your skin into letting active ingredients in your moisturizers to go deeper in the skin. The trick is to apply a thin layer of a face oil before your night cream.
So now that we know why oils are good for our skin here five oils I think are worth checking out!
- Tea Tree Oil: Great for acne prone skin and for disinfecting. Dilute in water and store in a spray bottle, you can spray your makeup brushes and pillow cases to kill some of the bacteria. [Try: The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil $9.50]
- Rosehip Oil: Great for discoloration. This oil will protect your skin while increasing cell turnover. [Try: Trilogy Certified Organ Rosehip Oil $44]
- Chamomile Oil: Great for sensitive skin. Just like chamomile tea is soothing, this oil will soothe any irritant such as burns, or acne inflammation. [Try: Darphin Organic Chamomile Aromatic Care $70]
- Marula Oil: Great for hydrating skin, like I mentioned above this fights against free radicals and has been said to reverse the signs of sun damage. [Try: Acure Marula Oil $15.99]
- Argan Oil: Great for hydrating and discoloration. Has multiple uses, such as on face, body, and hair. [Try: Josie Maran Argan Oil $48]
