Yesterday I received the Julep Maven welcome box. Now I have been wanting to try Julep polish for a while, but the monthly $20 dollars for nail polish was just not ideal. But since the first box is free I figured I'd give it a go. When you sign up for the maven box you take a little quiz and it pairs you with shades they think you would like, I got classic with a twist. I received two polishes Zora (champagne) and Myrtle (red), I also received a cuticle serum.
To be completely honest I wasn't that impressed with the box. The colors are gorgeous but for $20 I had higher hopes. Many of the Julep shade are actually very similar to some Essie shade. To me Julep's Myrtle is very similar to Essie's A-list and Julep's Zora is very similar to Essie's East Hampton Cottage. I personally don't find anything special with these polishes they go on exactly the same and actually took a bit longer to dry. You also only get 8 ml in comparison to 13.5 ml with Essie.
All in all I think these are nice polishes, but I don't find them to be worth the money. I think you can find similar shades that will give you the same effect for a cheaper price. Now will I ever try another Julep shade... possibly, but for right now I'm happy with the shade selection I can get for a lower price.
What are your thoughts on the Julep polishes?
Have a great day and stay warm!

Oooh the colours are pretty! But yeah, $20 seems bit steep alright! Thanks for the honest review!

I've never heard of Julep nail polishes before! $20 is a bit expensive though like you said.
ReplyDeleteI like the colour of Myrtle though.

I haven't heard of this brand before, but that's probably because I'm in the UK. They are so similar to the Essie colours, for $20, it doesn't sound worth bothering with.

I personally didn't find anything great about the polishes, but I only paid about $4.00 for shipping so its not like I had to break the bank for this. But I did end up canceling the subscription right after i tested out the products.
